Small business could be considered the backbone of the Queensland business sector, and in recognition not only for the economic contribution but also the passion, determination and employment opportunities they bring, small businesses are being congratulated and supported by the 2016 Queensland Small Business Week celebrations.

As part of an ongoing Queensland Government initiative the week of the 16-21 May 2016 specifically brings to light the plight of the small business owner and provides a range of events and resources specifically to support small businesses growth and success.

At the events held across the state as well as online, small businesses are able to learn more about:

  • Collaboration and partnerships
  • Innovation and entrepreneurship
  • Identifying and seizing opportunities
  • Preparing for digital disruption

Each of these themes fits into the core focus of helping small businesses innovate and get fit for changes in the economic and digital landscape.

You can get involved with the 2016 Queensland Small Business Week by attending and event or utilising the resources available. Visit http://www.business.qld.gov.au/smallbusiness for more information.

Workplace Central loves small businesses and we aim to support them whenever we can through affordable, streamlined processes and expert advice on workforce management.

We know that running a small business can be tough… really tough some times! We also understand that most of the time you are too busy working to keep the business going to even give yourself the chance to read or learn something new. We say give yourself a break and take permission to step back! Let the prominence of this week give you another reason to take some time out to work on your business rather than in it, and to celebrate your hard work, your sacrifices and your achievements. You and your business deserve it!
