Each year The Fair Work Commission complete an annual wage review and on the 6th of June announced an increase to the minimum wage. The new Federal Minimum wage will be going up to $694.90 per week / $18.29 per hour (an increase of $22.20 per week / $0.59 per hour). You can read the Commission’s statement here.
The decision affects over 2.3 million employees in Australia who are reliant on minimum rates of pay and the changes will come into operation on 1 July 2017, along with recent weekend and holiday penalty rate updates.
