The Fair Work Commission (FWC) has today announced a Federal Minimum Wage (FMW) increase of 3%, to apply from the first pay period commencing on or after 1 July 2019.
This equates to a new FMW of $740.80 per week, or $19.49 per hour.
According to the statement released by the FWC today, around 2.2 million employees or 21.0 per cent of all employees have their wages set by the NMW or by a modern award minimum wage and will be directly affected by this decision.
Many other employees who have pay rates set by collective agreements that have pay rates linked to the FMW review and other arrangements are also likely to have their rates increased as a result of this decision.
We will be calculating and releasing our updated rates as soon as possible for our clients. Should you need help with managing this change within your workplace, contact our team for further information.
