October is National Safe Work Month, a time where businesses should recognise and make their commitment to building healthy and safe workplaces, across Australia.

At Workplace Central, we’ll be focusing on safety at our workforce management client workplaces, by hosting ‘tool box’ talks (in some cases, incentivised by a tasty treat or two), site visits, and rolling out the remainder of our Safety Management Plan for 2017. During October the safety management plan covers manual handling, which occurs in all workplaces, from offices to warehouses to retail stores. November will target reviewing heavy vehicle licences, inductions and fitness for work. Then we’ll end the year with confined space, hot work and working from heights practices reviews in December. If you need a safety management plan for your workplace, you definitely need to talk to John.

Safe Work Australia encourages businesses and their staff to get behind Safe Work Month, by providing access to events, and training. There’s also a $5000 prize up for grabs by using their campaign kit to run a safety initiative at your workplace! What simple practices could you introduce to your business, to improve safety for yourself, your colleagues, your staff, or members of the public?

* Safe Work Procedures should always be reviewed to ensure they reflect your workplace, but a template can be a great place to start.
